Happy World Cat Day! World Cat-Day, also known as International Cat-Day, was first celebrated in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and other animal rights groups. Despite being solitary, cats are a social and use a variety of vocalizations, pheromones and body language for communication. These include meowing, purring, trilling, hissing, growling, and grunting. Interactions with cats may improve health and reduce physical responses to stress: for example the presence of cats may moderate increased blood pressure.
